A few years passed. Chris and Julia settled into married life quite comfortably, worked hard at their careers and poured every single spare cent they had into building a home. It was a humble abode to be sure, but it finally had four walls, a roof and a proper kitchen. Chris and Julia shared a love of food and cooking and often talked about recipes while lying in bed together at night.

With everything they had accomplished so far in their lives, Julia felt ready to have a child. They didn't have much money in the bank, but they had a decent house and a loving, caring relationship. It was time to build their little family in order to carry on the family name.

It didn't take long - Julia got pregnant within a few months. One month she didn't have her period, so she waited a week just in case it was stress-related, and then took a home pregnancy test. Sure enough, the digital reading flashed "pregnant" within a few seconds. She couldn't wait to tell Chris about the new life that was about to join their family. She waited until he came home from work that night and right away jumped into her (their) big news.

"Sweetie, I have something to tell you, something important. Can you stop doing that and listen to me?"

He put the dishes down on the counter. "What is it?"

"I'm pregnant!" She exclaimed.

"Really? Oh, that's wonderful! C'mere," He grabbed her and wrapped her in a tight hug.

"Oh! It just kicked me - here, feel," She put his hand on her belly and watched as his face lit up in wonder. She felt a rush of love for him, at the sight of them together, her child and her husband.

He bent his head close to Julia's belly and whispered: "Hey little one, I'm your daddy. I'm so excited about you; I can't wait to meet you. I'm going to teach you to walk, and I'm going to comfort you when you cry, and, oh, we're going to have so much fun together, just you wait."
